About me
Driven by Purpose, Grounded in Experience
My Story
I , Dulan Perera — an engineer, educator, and researcher with a mission to bridge the gap between technology and human impact. My journey began in Sri Lanka, where a deep curiosity for how things work led me to pursue a path in engineering. I hold a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, and over the years, I’ve built a career that intersects academia, research, and industry. My early professional years were shaped by hands-on experience in factory automation across Southeast Asia, where I managed large-scale projects and implemented control systems that improved efficiency and safety. These formative years instilled in me a strong sense of discipline, precision, and the importance of building solutions that are not only functional but also sustainable.
At the core of my work are the values of integrity, curiosity, and service. I believe that technology should serve people—not the other way around—and I bring this ethos into everything I do, from mentoring students to collaborating with industry partners. As an Assistant Lecturer at Monash University, I am committed to fostering a learning environment that is inclusive, forward-thinking, and grounded in real-world application. I encourage my students to challenge norms, think critically, and design responsibly.
My mission is to use my skills and experience to solve complex problems that matter—whether that’s detecting cognitive fatigue through EEG signals, developing intelligent automation systems, or guiding the next generation of engineers and scientists. I believe in lifelong learning, in staying adaptable, and in creating impact through innovation, empathy, and collaboration. This site is a reflection of that journey—where past experiences, present work, and future ambitions converge.
